SHENZHEN, China--Creative Technology subsidiary ZiiLabs today announced Zii Trinity, a smartphone development platform based on its ZMS-05 and ZMS-08 processors. As with its earlier Zii Egg device, this isn't a consumer product but a reference device meant for developers and manufacturers.
Like the Zii Egg, the Trinity is capable of video output up to HD resolutions and uses either the Android OS or Creative's own Plazma OS. What makes it different is added cellular connectivity supporting GSM and WCDMA networks. The Trinity concept phone has the following specifications:
- Quad-band GSM/tri-band WCDMA/HSDPA support up to 7.2Mbps
- ZiiLabs ZMS-05 processor
- 3.1-inch 480 x 800 OLED capacitive display
- Mini HDMI port
- 5-megapixel camera with autofocus
- Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GPS
The features are quite standard for a high-end smartphone these days, with the main differentiator being the ZiiLabs processor. Most Android devices available today come with chips from Qualcomm, such as the 1GHz Snapdragon processor found in the Acer Liquid.
We are currently at Creative's Zii Summit held in Shenzhen and will be getting more information on Trinity and, hopefully, a hands-on, too. Look out for our further coverage.

Hi xSelleck, thanks for the spot. You're right on both the Motorola Milestone running a 550MHz processor and the underclocked 1GHz processor on the Liquid.
Actually, I take that back. The DROID and MILESTONE use the ARM Cortex A8 550 MHz processor.
The Motorola MILESTONE's processor is the same as the DROID's in America. The Qualcomm 550MHz, not a Snapdragon. Though, that would be amazing. On top of that, the Acer Liquid's processor has been scaled back to around 700+MHz.
