LAS VEGAS, US--Xerox's premise for its Mobile Scanner is simple--why mess with USB cables when all you need is an Eye-Fi card that can be easily used to scan and send all the documents you need?
That's what the Xerox Mobile scanner does, plain and simple. Xerox showed off its latest gadget at the Digital Experience event and we must admit, the specs seem pretty impressive for such a niche product.
The Mobile Scanner comes with a free 4GB Eye-Fi card and has a built-in battery that can last 300 scans on a full charge. The only cable has to be the charger--unless Xerox has a wireless charging solution we did not see.
Xerox's gadget can send almost any document (receipts, name cards, photos, etc.) to most devices, including PCs, Macs, Android devices as well as iOS devices like the iPhone or iPad. It can also store your documents in the cloud.
The Xerox Mobile Scanner will be available in May for US$249 in the US. No word on whether you'll be able to get this in Asia, so for now, you'll have to make do with taking pictures of your documents with your smartphone when you're on the go.
