WM Foursquare app in the works

Windows Mobile users who feel left out by their iPhone-toting friends when they "check-in" and "check-out" of locations and end up being "mayors" of these places, will soon be able to join in the fun. Foursquare, the location-based social-networking service with game elements that has been popular mainly with iPhone users, will have a Windows Mobile version, too.

It isn't an official Foursquare app but will be developed by a company called Touchality using the public APIs. There are versions available for Android, BlackBerry and webOS as well, so this latest news is a boon for WM users. It's still not publicly available, but you can submit your email to participate in the beta. Your phone must run either WM6.1 or 6.5 and have a touchscreen display.

This leaves Symbian the only smartphone OS not to have a native app for the service. But according to this Foursquare discussion thread, there's one in development.
