Windows Phone 7 gets jailbroken

Even the open-source Android wasn't spared from jailbreaking (a.k.a. rooting), so we aren't surprised that Windows Phone 7 was next in line for some hacking love. The unlocker tool, ChevronWP7, works with all current Windows Phone 7 smartphones and enables app installation without going through Windows Marketplace. This allows the user to load experimental programs which use private or native APIs.

Frankly, there are not many benefits to jailbreaking Windows Phone 7 at this time, though in the future this step may allow users to load custom firmware or apps that did not get approved on Windows Marketplace. Do note that while the process is safe, it is not known if the jailbreak can be reversed. Moreover, your warranty will certainly be at risk if you use this tool.

I think Darius was just stating the consequences and clearly.. Eventually, WP7 jailbreaking will be more useful and safer I guess.

Please be more un-biased, leave ppl to decide whether they want to jailbreak. Don't discourage!
