The Lunar New Year is less than three weeks away and Vertu has launched a trio of luxury phones to welcome the Year of the Dragon. Take your pick from the stainless steel and emerald, black stainless steel and ruby or yellow gold and diamond models.

Vertu's Signature collection gets the royal treatment with precious stones and top-grade metals, plus a garish hand-engraved four-claw dragon on the battery cover. It's not to be sniffed at; the dragon takes four craftsmen over a day to complete engraving. The yellow gold version is even sent to Switzerland for certification, then returns to the workshop for its precious stone adornment.

Not much is known about its tech specs, but it's likely to be running on the Symbian OS.

These phones will probably be popular among China's well-heeled, who may wish to kick off the Year of the Dragon on a very expensive note. According to Lifestyle Asia, only three sets of the black stainless steel and ruby version will be available in Singapore at S$26,800 each.

As with any Vertu phone, this hefty price tag comes with a free one year concierge service. The company even throws in a leather case and charging cradle, along with certification for the precious stones.
