I guess there must be a demand for these exceptionally pricey phones, otherwise we wouldn't be hearing about new Vertu handsets every now and then. Latest in the Ascent range is the Ascent Aluminum (starting price from 4,200 euros) which Vertu claims is the first time aerospace-grade material is used in the lineup. There's also a slightly more costly Titanium model which will set you back 5,900 euros.
For that price, you'll be glad to hear that the specifications aren't shabby at all. According to Vertu, the Ascent Aluminum will sport quad-band 3G and GSM, 8GB built-in memory (32GB for the Titanium version), Assisted-GPS, a 5-megapixel camera protected by a sapphire crystal lens, onboard accelerometer and LED flash. These will be accompanied by services including Vertu Select, City Brief, Vertu Concierge and Vertu Fortress, and a new soundtrack by British musical outfit, Unkle, which is adapted for the devices' ringing and alert tones. Both phones are available from Vertu boutiques worldwide.
