French company Movea has recently launched MoveTV, which is touted as a unified motion and gesture control solution tailored for the Pay TV market. This allows service providers, developers and settop box manufacturers to build interactive user interfaces, games and apps utilizing in-air point-and-click navigation and other advanced functions to improve the user experience. An ecosystem of hardware and software is available for licensing and integration, too, including smartphone and tablet remote apps, unlike its competitors such as Philips.
Korean cable TV operator C&M Media is adopting this system for its controller pictured above so its subscribers will be able to try out MoveTV's capabilities soon. There's no similar partnership announced in other countries and regions at the moment.
Ed: Hillcrest Labs has clarified that its Freespace in-air pointing and remote technology is also compatible with smartphones and tablets.
