its been a month and a half with my baby so far(i'm referring to my diamond) ..

The battery life firstly, lasts around a day or so, not like someone said "3-5 hrs" Even after playing music for 2-3 hours and using the GPS, which is a battery hog, it still stayed up for another 4 hours.

The phone is not at all laggy, performance is very good (unless you try to run everything together) after the latest ROM update, and if you buy the phone now, you'll probably have it with the latest ROM like me. The phone is also very stable, Since i've bought it , it has hung up only a handful of times, and the reasons being very clearly my own fault or particular apps fault(If you haven't guessed yet, I'm a programmer/hardcore geek, so I've messed around with the phone)

Syncing with a PC is problematic, ActiveSync for windows XP really sucks, it doesn't work for me anymore, I would really recommend saving/retrieving files from the diamond via DiskDrive. Don't use stupid active sync. I can however sync with Vista via bluetooth, and I use Wi fi for file transfer.

Overall the phone is a very expensive smart toy, you should buy it if you really plan to use it. There are forums like www.alltouchdiamond.com and forum.xda-developers.com... where you can get apps and learn how to really use the phone.

As for versions, there are different by location, the US version is the "sprint" if i'm not mistaken, because they have CMDA networks, there is the regular GSM *3G* version with a small front cam, and the Indian GSM version, **does NOT have 3G and NO cam in the front** eveything else is same. I don't think 3G makes a diff here since we don't really have netowrks yet, also they aren't kidding about EDGE, browsing is quite fast, near 256Kbps.

Good Luck

I know this comes a lil' too late...been going for handheld window shopping lately, and fell in love with the HTC Touch Diamond... (i know the HD's out, but well its a lil' beyond my budget and the Pro's a BUS)...

However, I've got feedbacks from early Diamond users that the phone's laggy and multiple resets is required from time to time...

On the contrary, I've already read about upgraded ROM version that solves the problem..

How true is either one of the above?
Really interested to get one and say if I looking, any specific version should I look for?

Well....I would say we can get "300+hrs standby time" if we turn everything off....including the phone!!! ;P
The best I'm getting is slightly more than 2 days in standby with a few sms and 1 or 2 short phone calls...
Can we sue HTC for their misleading information?

hi,

I'm been thinking about buying the diamond for a long time now,so firstly,

Are you guys sure about the battery life? It says it has 300+ hours of standby! Could you guys check how long it lasts **after turning all unnecessary programs off**?

This might be a *little silly but, does working the gps need a GPRS connection. I mean, checking location on a maps program? Because current GPRS plan is based on my downloads. I'm afraid running some map program would consume major bandwidth!?

Thanks so much

Gideon

sleek, Yes of course. batt is the biggest problem. it drained really fast 8hrs max. (including talktime, sms etc.) if you are planning to do "typing" notes without a keyboard, the job becomes difficult. other than that, i love this set.
