The coveted handset will be available from 12.01am on August 22 at the SingTel Comcentre along Exeter Road and the sale will go on until 9pm on August 24. From August 25, the phone will be available at all Hello! retail stores.
There are no pre-paid options available and the handset has to be activated at the point of purchase in the store. Users will also need to register the handset, but this can be done via iTunes at home.
SingTel has also said that you can trade in your current mobile phone, though users will have to enquire in person with the operator.
More details to come and if you have any questions, hit us up in Talkback.

wanted to know....if i buy this phone here in Singapore and take it to India...can i switch to any other service provider to which apple has collaborated here in India like Airtel and Vodafone.......please let me know....
till today i dont understand why must one person activate the phone? isnt it unlock and ready to use at any moment ?
Sorry im totally dumb at this. FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE HIGH LEVEL-ED CNET USER. How is singnet's price actually equivalent to the USD199 - 350SGD price? It's like crazy 3x of 350! I was practically hyperventilating on my seat when i saw the $$ especially since you know, i totally expected to fork out only 350SGD for the phone. I don't understand. And it's frustrating. PLEASE ENLIGHTEN MY POOR SOUL! ): ): ):
The HTC Diamond on StarHub is going for $398 on their most expensive plan. On SingTel, it's going for $298. Similarly, Samsung's Omnia is going for $498 at StarHub and $348 at SingTel.
1GB is comparatively better than have a measly 10MB of free data that some data plans offer, especially if you're using a data-intensive like the iPhone. If you want more, just sign up for Broadband on Mobile. Not only do you get more free data, you get faster wireless speeds at SingTel hotspots. With my wireless surfing habits, I'm barely scratching 2GB a month.
It seems that there is no way out. They would get their money, one way or the other. iPhone 3G has been out in the states for over a month now. I presumed that they are not selling it without contract yet--while still tied to the service provider. Current window mobile pc users are already using Skype (over 3G/wifi) to make mobile phone calls around the world for as low as 3 cent per minute. I wonder if many tech-savvy users would jailbreak their iphone for that function. That is--if skype would provide a similar file for installation. I was there on the launch date when the first and second generation of iPhone came out. That feeling of touch but no own is truly testing. I guess, this is the end of the line.
Its is still unknown will singtel sell non-contract set or not.. since they are using those set as much as they could to make people sign up and locked onto their network for 2 years.. i personally doubt they will do so in near future.. u can also try mobilesquare or whymobile for official unlocked / no contract 16GB set whom are selling at a ridiculous price of S$1888 and S$1950 respectively not long ago. Alternatively, u can also try ebay where most of the 16GB set closed @ around S$1100 ~ S$1300.
Anyone knows when will iPhone 3G be selling without contact, still locked to Singtel, and the estimated price?
