Sharp TVs receive DTS audio upgrades

Sharp has just joined Samsung and Panasonic by incorporating DTS audio technologies for its latest PRC-series Aquos in the US. These panels feature both DTS 2.0 Channel and DTS 2.0 + Digital Out functions to facilitate multichannel DTS sound playback through the TV speakers and a digital audio out, respectively.

The latter digital out feature allows consumers to connect a home theater system to the TV to enjoy the full fidelity and enveloping effects of DTS audio. Some common media offering DTS soundtracks include the latest films distributed through DVD and Blu-ray Discs, as well as games and full-HD MKV video files.

We've contacted Sharp to find out if the company's TVs bound for Asia will receive the DTS upgrades. Do check back for updates.
