Why can't I copy my MP3 files to Windows 7?

Before this, I saved all my MP3 and video files into my external HDD. However, I can't seem to transfer my music back into my computer. It hangs halfway and this has occurred a few times. The total size for my MP3 collection is around 20GB. Is this a bug in Windows 7? I have tried reformatting and reinstalling windows but to no avail.
Answer Windows 7 does not have such a limit. It is likely that either the files were corrupted during the transfer, or there are bad sectors on your harddisk. To check for the former, you can try to copy the files in batches. If you have 250 MP3s to transfer, for example, move only 25 at a time to isolate the corrupted file. In order to check for bad sectors, you can try applications such as Flobo Hard Disk Repair to detect and attempt to fix the issue. However, even if the bad sector is repaired we suggest that this particular drive be relegated as storage for non-essential data as it may fail again.
