Question
Are Netbooks good for music and photo downloads/uploads and playing games? I am thinking of getting a Netbook for these purposes but the salesman told me to consider otherwise. He said I should get a full-fledged notebook instead. Is that true?

For music and photo downloads, a Netbook is more than powerful enough. Furthermore, most online games should not be an issue, as long as you are referring to browser-based games and not World of Warcraft.
But there is one more point to note. Due to the small panel and reduced resolution on most Netbooks, large images and some games might not be able to fit into the limited screen estate. As such, you might find yourself scrolling quite a bit and this might be bothersome to some. I suggest you check out a few demo units in the stores and see if the screen is good enough for you.
Some models like the HP Mini 2140 sport a high-resolution 1,366 x 768-pixel display (as opposed to the common 1024 x 600 found in most Netbooks) while Acer Aspire One 751 and Gateway LT3000 Netbooks have larger 11.6-inch LCDs. So check out these machines and see if they suit your needs.
