Question

I am looking for the best available GPS phones or PDAs... but I am not sure where to buy them and which to buy because the choice is quite limited in Hong Kong.

I would prefer TomTom or Garmin or anything that is good, but not sure if it works in Hong Kong and China or elsewhere except Europe and North America. As I travel a lot and rent cars, I need GPS. Any suggestions? I need only the best.

If you visit the Garmin and TomTom Web sites, you will notice that their efforts are concentrated on Europe and North America, with some mention of Hong Kong and Singapore. It's pretty clear that that's not for you.

For maps of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, many handheld vendors bundle MapKing maps. Visit MapKing's site and you will see which cities it has maps for. The platforms supported by MapKing include Windows Mobile and Symbian Series60.

In your case, I would advice looking out for a dedicated GPS device which already has maps bundled. If your choices are limited in Hong Kong, try getting one the next time you travel to Taiwan or China.
