By now, we all know that you can hardly keep an unannounced gadget from the prying eyes of the Internet. Yesterday, reports of an upcoming Samsung point-and-shoot, the ST5500, was spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission's Web site. Its supposed specifications include a 14.2-megapixel image sensor, 7x optical zoom, 100MB of internal memory with support for microSD/SDHC cards, 720p video capture mode and a 3.5-inch touchscreen. Like its predecessor, the ST1000, the new snapper boasts a variety of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Will the ST5500 be in time for CES 2010? I don't think so because rumors online are saying that Samsung will unveil the NX10 at the Las Vegas tradeshow. My guess is that the ST5500 may make its debut at the Photo Marketing Association tradeshow in February instead.
