Samsung not participating in CommunicAsia 2011

CommunicAsia 2011
Samsung has told CNET Asia that it will not be participating in CommunicAsia 2011. This telecommunications tradeshow is one of the largest in the region and gathers major players in the industry in Singapore. It had previously been held at the Singapore Expo on the island-state but will be conducted at the new Sands Expo and Convention Center this year in June. The following is the company's statement on the matter:
Samsung confirms its decision not to participate in the CommunicAsia 2011. The decision was reached as its Mobile Communications Business Unit joined its other product groups for the first time to present the complete suite of Samsung innovations at the Samsung SEA, Oceania and Taiwan Forum held in Singapore on 7 March 2011. The regional forum hosted by Samsung took place in Singapore for the second year running. Samsung believes that its own hosted platform is equally optimal in gathering trade partners and media across the regional markets to showcase its new and flagship products, including mobile devices, for the region.

The chaebol has been a supporter of the tradeshow and had previously launched key products during CommunicAsia. It typically boasts one of the largest and most elaborate booths on the showfloor. Last year, its keen competitor LG did not participate in the exhibition and will not be doing so this year, too. So it appears we will not be seeing new mobile products from the Korean giants at the Singapore-held tradeshow this year.

We have contacted Nokia, who confirmed that its own Nokia Connection event, usually held a day before CommunicAsia, will still go on this year. We are in the process of contacting other mobile vendors for their participation and will report back with more details.
