Outstanding image quality
Sep 18, 2005Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)

Opinion:
I continue to be amazed by reviewers who compare High Definition with Standard Definition and think standard is better. This camera produces spectacular image quality and, while it is not perfect by any means and I am sure many standard definition cameras offer better ergonomics, this camera operates quite well. Personally, I think image quality that is an order of magnitude better outweighs ergonomics.
Gorgeous hi-rez video, way beyond my expectations

Opinion:
There's not a whole lot not to like with this unit. Lots of flexibility. Videos that look better and sharper than the vast majority of hi-def broadcasts. Reasonable price. Gets a little hot after a while. Included battery only lasts about an hour or so, no big deal. DV tapes are cheap but only records for 1 hour. No slow speed--again not a big deal. What is a big deal is the beautiful compact size and the astounding quality of the videos you make. It would not be a lie to say that they are sharper and better quality than the average movie you go to. Bottom line: A huge leap in quality that makes you forget you are watching a video and looking out your window instead. Get it! You will not regret it.
Outstanding performance

After comparing the results to similarly priced Panasonics that the CNET reviews mention, I truly believe that Sony has the better picture. The Panasonic camera's chip size is too small and as a result it suffers more from low-light dropoff than does the Sony. And that is simply comparing it to Sony at Sony's non-HD setting. Once viewing the picture in HD, it was an easy decision. Get this camera. You won't be disappointed! Truly the best bang for the buck.
