Good first camcorder

Pros: Very easy to use, Good picture quality, Good price
Cons: It takes a long time to download videos from the unit using the USB cable. It's much faster to rip the videos straight from the DVD, but that requires finalization.
Opinion:
I'm not a big fan of camcorders. I got this one only because I thought it was high time I owned one. :)

Since this would be the first camcorder I would have owned, I have nothing to compare the DCR-DVD708 to, especially with regards to the picture quality.

Hence, I'll just give a brief summary of my experience of owning the DCR-DVD708.

What I liked:

EASY TO USE - "Manuals? You don't need no steengkeeng manuals!" That's right! The moment I took the unit out of the box, I immediately knew where to place the battery (duh)... where the power switch was... how to charge the battery and how to take my first movies. I didn't need to look at the manual either to figure out how to navigate the menu system. Nice! (But of course, I still DID read the manual just to see if I missed ... Read more

 

supper video output, even at low light. excellent product for the money spent on

Pros: zoom, optical . works smooth,
Cons: need to have a set of DVD's to continue recording.
