JVC Everio GZ-MC500
CNET Asia Review
7.1
out of 10View score
The bad: Mediocre battery life, viewfinder, and low-light performance; automatic features a bit sluggish; limited manual controls; no microphone jack.
The bottom line: This extremely compact, nicely designed camera should please technophiles who want both photo and video capabilities and can afford to splurge.

Mediocre video & image qualities
Feb 22, 2006Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Small, stylish, compact
Cons: Expensive toy with bad propositions
Opinion:
I really like the MC-500 for being compact and stylish. Unfortunately I think its technology is way ahead of its time. With limited capacity and expensive Microdisk for upgrade option, the technology is questionable. Furthermore, its 5 megapixel still image quality feels like a 3 megapix, and its CCD video performance are somewhat low for such an expensive camcorder. If JVC can come up with such small & compact camcorder with at least 60GB hardisk capacity with Microdrive/SD/CF upgrade option with lower price, then it'll give a hard time to Sony.
