The good: Comfortable form factor; sliding lens cover; very capable auto mode.
The bad: Manual functions are tied to the touch screen; irritating \"popping\" zoom bar; bottom loading for tape.
The bottom line: A good overall package for a camcorder of this class despite some gripes with the touch-screen controls. A definite value buy.

Bought this last year. Good performance, especially outdoors. Needs light filteration, though. Had some bad experiences, too. Record start/stop button didn't function well. Had to use the record button on the LCD. Had it repaired. Luckily still has a 1-year warranty. After 2 months viewfinder acted wrong, picture was upside down, went to repair center again and the technician did some REFITTING. After 3 days, it went back to being upside down, went back again and REFITTING was done again. After that, the next day it was again upside down. Went ot repair center for the 3rd time for the same problem and demanded that major repair be done. As of 07142005, ordering of parts for the unit was being done. Hopefully I can get it and it is still in warranty up to 09112005.
