Brother showcases five mono multifunction printers

By Leonard Goh

To mark its 100th anniversary this year, Brother has been releasing a slew of printers into the market. Focusing mainly on multifunction printers (MFP), the Japanese company was near to creating the perfect inkbox with the release of its 9-in-1 MFC-885CW. Today, it took a different direction by showcasing five mono MFPs from its 7000-series that are targeted at SOHOs and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The new lineup is based on the award winning HL-2170W laser printer. By using it as a base printing engine, Brother piled other features like copy, scan and fax onto it.

The DCP-7030 and DCP-7040 essentially have the same specifications, except that the latter has an automatic document feeder. Both machines can output up to 22 pages per minute (ppm) at a maximum resolution of 2,400 x 600dpi, with the high-yield toner saving both resources and money.

The MFC-7340 is a 5-in-1 inkbox that lets you print, fax, copy, scan and Internet fax. The automatic document feeder facilitates operations such as Scan-to-Email, which can convert up to 35 pieces of paper documents into email attachments.

It's difficult to tell the MFC-7450 and MFC-7840N apart physically as both units share the same dimensions and print specifications. But for companies that handle a lot of confidential documents, the MFC-7840N is more suitable as it comes preloaded with a suite of security features. Not only that, it allows multiple terminals to print from it via the Ethernet port.

These printers will be on shelves in Singapore from July, although availability in other parts of Asia has yet to be revealed. Pricing and more details on the next page.
