Samsung forges ahead with new IT solutions

Monitors
To service consumers' display needs, Samsung also launched some new LCD monitors. The SyncMaster 961BG and the SyncMaster 961GW appeal with their glossy black veneer and double hinge stands, though the viewing angle is sub par (170 degrees versus the more common 178 degrees). These monitors will come standard with Samsung's screen optimization software; MagicRotation which rotates the screen according to the position of the text and MagicTune which is an automatic one-touch adjuster of brightness, contrast and resolution.

Building on its previous digital photo frame, the SPF-07N, the new SPH-72V is a 7-inch LCD screen with built-in WiFi to display photos from both a computer as well as Websites like Windows Live Space.

The Korean firm is also going eco-green with the 30-inch SyncMaster XL30, which does not use mercury and halogen components in its manufacturing process and features 123 percent color production for improved display fidelity.

On a separate note, Samsung showcased a concept monitor, the SyncMaster 940UX, which is capable of adding multiple monitors support without the need to install any additional graphics cards. The SyncMaster 940UX works by connecting (via USB) to a computer on top of existing monitors (connected via VGA and DVI) that are already connected to the graphics card.

So you can have three monitors in all, one more than your graphics card can support. However, the trump card of the 940UX is that an additional 940UX can be daisy-chained to the first one, up to six 940UXs in all.

Samsung expects the 940UX will be especially welcomed by multitasking laptop users who find the screen of the notebook to be too small.
