Lexmark turns Mac-friendly

What better way is there to demonstrate how printers can be tailored to suit different environments? Lexmark yesterday showcased a total of six printers targeted at homes and businesses by organizing a role-play clinic and banking scenario at a local launch.

"Lexmark has always been focused on functionality and delivering value to the customer. Now, we are planning to increase focus on adding product design for our products. This means adding a little bit more style and color," said Loh Teck Heng, country manager for Lexmark Singapore, in a press release statement.

The new design strategy sees the products move from darker colors to cooler shades of iPod-ish white. However, it is a conservative step as the X5470 All-in-One still bears a striking resemblance to the current lineup. According to Lexmark, the X5470 is the company's first visible stride toward injecting more lifestyle elements into its inkboxes. Mac-compatibility is also a first on the X5470. Other features that are available on the X5470 include a 10-sheet automatic document feeder and memory card slots for direct printing.

For budget home printing, Lexmark offers the X1270 All-in-One which uses the one-cartridge system for hassle-free ink management. Other printers showcased at the launch comprise the C500n, X342n, X642e and X4600 targeted at small businesses and enterprises in the local market.

For aftersales service and support, the company's LexExpress features a next-business-day one-to-one warranty unit replacement at your doorstep for one year. Extended coverage up to three years can be purchased online for S$89 (US$65.53).
