Epson printers for the budget crowd
Epson has announced recently five new printers, including three All-in-Ones targeted mainly at home and small office users.
All five models are powered by the proprietary Micro-Piezo printhead system and Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT). By controlling the size of the ink droplets (1.5, 3 and 7 picoliters), the printers are more sensitive to subtle tonal graduations which, in turn, would produce richer pictures.
Together with the new inkboxes, Epson is also offering new economical inks priced at S$9.90 per cartridge for use with the Stylus C59 and Stylus CX2900. According to the company, each ink tank has a rated page yield of 170 monochrome (for single black cartridge) and 255 color (for single color cartridge) pages, based on ISO standards.
The three other printers--Stylus C79, Stylus CX3900 and Stylus CX5900--are equipped with the INKdividual DURABrite Ultra pigment inks formulated with a special coat for fade-, smudge- and water-resistant properties. When used with the company's matte paper heavyweight, Epson claims the inks ensure lifetime durability of up to 120 years.
