Finally, a printer that matches my Manolos

Pros: A designer-liked printer that matches my designer desk
Cons: Monolaser limits my choice
Opinion:
The elegant design and ghost-liked blue light is enigmatic and sexy, the glossy black finish is nice too. However, the lack of color printing limit my choice of printing to only documents, but the speed of printing is good enough for me.

 

It oozes gorgeousness, & what looks like a black lacquer finish. It's a winner in so many ways.

Opinion:
OK... You've just blown more than a few Ks on Italian designer furniture lookalikes, updated the color scheme in your Bukit Timah condo unit (experimented with some schmancy wallpaper even), and carved out a little corner in it for your home office. Strict instructions have been given to the kids not to come near Daddy's "computer-stuff" or to be "on the receiving end of the family rotan".

There, sitting in its place of honor is the Samsung ML-1630. It does its thing, with not so much as a whisper. I mean, what more would one ask for? It is afterall, a monolaser printer, which does what it's supposed to but with dollops of style. Which is alot more than what can be said about those other beige, white or gray plastic boxes they call printers...

You have to give it to the design team at Samsung. They've taken back the responsibility of building good looking products. So ... Read more

Pros: Gorgeous design, can print checks with MICR cartridge from checksnet.com
Cons: Tried to feed 30 sheets of paper from tray, chewed up internal gears, died.
Opinion:
Like women I've known, she lured me with her looks.

She was great when I installed a ChecksNet MICR toner cartridge. Printed a sheet of 3 perfectly aligned checks.
I was very impressed with the quietness during the print job.

Put about 80 sheets of plain white copy paper in the tray and tried to print a website page. Instead of feeding one sheet of paper, it jammed. When I removed the paper tray and looked inside, I could see that it tried to feed about 30 sheets of paper. Carefully removed them. When I turned the ML-1630 back on, I could hear gears grinding themselves to pieces (like when you throw some chicken bones into a kitchen sink disposal). It is very possible that the unit was damaged in shipping because I later found a giant hole in side of carton.

Apple is sending me a replacement and I'm hoping to get better results ... Read more
