HP OfficeJetD145, repeated "Scan Failure..." Error

Opinion:
This printer can only "PRINT", NOTHING ELSE WORKS. This printer is used moderately and it malfunctioned. According to HP online chat support, the cause is hardware problems. When I advised the tech that it was only 2.5 years old and inquired about options, the first was a coupon offer for a new printer. Second - upgrade to a refurbished machine which comes with a 3-month warranty. I won't waste my time and will NEVER buy an HP printer again.
