Renewing the Neeons
By Edvarcl Heng 17/11/2005
Creative Singapore has just announced updates to the Zen
Neeon series of MP3 players with two new models.
Besides now offering flash-based units at 512MB, 1GB, 2GB
capacities, as well as a 6GB hard drive-based Neeon which
is beefier than the previous 5GB model released in May,
Creative has oddly chosen to collectively brand the
players as Zen Neeons. Only the memory capacities are
imprinted at the back of the model name, serving as
indications of their technical differences.
This could be due to the fact that the new Neeons,
regardless of memory size, will sport similar physical
dimensions.
Alongside the new hardware, the Singapore-based company
has revealed that it will be releasing a total of 28 new
Stik-Ons to commemorate the new Neeons. Twelve of these
will be limited-edition "Face" Stik-Ons which are
individually packed with matching Neeon slings. The other
16 will form part of four new series (four-piece packs)
entitled Bold, Classic, Gutsy and Chic.
Noteworthy features in the flash-based Neeon run the gamut
of a duo-tone OLED screen to a rated playtime of 32
hours--twice that of the 5GB Neeon. The 6GB Zen Neeon
remains essentially the same as the 5GB version.
The new Zen Neeons will initially be available only in
Singapore.

It's just the same as the older Zen Neeon. But if you got an extra 1GB worth of MP3s lying around, it might be worthwhile to get this one instead.. |
