The new Samsung sopranos
By Edvarcl Heng 10/06/2005
In a launch event held Friday, Samsung Singapore introduced the media to six new MP3 players, of which one was the relaunched YP-F1.
Perhaps in a testimony to the company's intentions to capture the lion's share of the MP3 player market by 2007, the new models have a host of features currently not available in most digital audio players on the market. This may seem to bode well for the Korean giant, given that the current king of the heap, the iPod, is not given to leading the pack when it comes to adding new features to its players.
One of the more noticeable MP3 players at the event has to be the YP-D1 which features a 2-megapixel camera, and the YH-J70 which allows the user to use hand movements instead of the conventional button press to control the player.
All six models will be shipping in by end-June with the sole exception of the 8GB version of the YH-J50 which is expected in September.
