This month, the new Fujitsus flex their way into the top 10 with two LifeBooks. The S6240S's high sales is probably due to its lower pricing as compared with its predecessor, the S6230. Better features combined with a S$300 price drop was enough to see its stock rise. The HP/Compaq duo seen last month continue their stint at the top, though the Sonoma-based Presario V2320AP nudges its way to number two. This time round there are four Acers and its highest-ranked model is actually the most popular notebook for June, based on the hits on our site.

Note: Results are based on the number of hits attained for each laptop on the CNET Asia notebook channel combined with the sales figures of various retailers in Sim Lim Square for June 2005.

1.  Fujitsu LifeBook S6240 (Pentium M Processor 730 1.6GHz, 256MB RAM)

Jumping straight out of nowhere to hit the top spot is the LifeBook S6240S. This isn't too surprising considering past models in the S6200 series have been a constant favorite among students. Expect this notebook to stay close to the top of our rankings in a few months when tertiary students start buying their laptops.

2.  Compaq Presario V2000 series (Pentium M Processor 725 1.6GHz, 512MB RAM)

CNETAsia rating: 7.6 out of 10
This Compaq has been a constant feature in our rankings. In fact, this laptop hit the Top 5 of three Sim Lim shops we've checked out. With price drops of the V2133AP / V2102AP and the launch of the new range of Sonoma-based V2320AP / V2308AP laptops, you can expect this Presario's stock to continue rising.

3.  HP Pavilion dv4000 series (Pentium M Processor 740 1.73GHz, 1GB RAM)

The dv4000 is a 15.4-inch desktop replacement edition of the Pavilion dv1000 and sports the same multimedia features which made its predecessor such a hit. This HP offers a PCMCIA remote and pre-boot DVD/CD/MP3 playback all for an affordable price of S$2,799.

4.  Acer Ferrari 4000 series (Turion 64 ML-37 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM)

The Ferrari 4005WLMi is just hitting the shops in Singapore, but is already the hottest item on the CNET Asia Notebook channel for the past month. The laptop sports Acer's Folio-inspired design in a revamped black-and-red casing which comes as a refreshing change from the usual red of the 3000 series.

5.  Toshiba Tecra M3 (Pentium M Processor 740 1.73GHz, 512MB RAM)

We were a little surprised to find that the Tecra M3 was a fairly popular choice in Sim Lim Square as the page views gotten were negligible. However, this is a solid 14-inch thin-and-light which will satisfy business users and students. Similar to the Fujitsu LifeBook S6240, you can expect its sales to increase once University students start their term.
