The Ferrari 4000 was undoubtedly one of the stars at Computex 2005. Sporting Acer's Folio-inspired design in a revamped black-and-red casing, the new chassis is a refreshing change from the usual red of the 3000 series.
Editors' note:
June 26: The model to retail in Singapore will be called the Ferrari 4005WLMi and is to be launched in July with a price tag of S$3,998. Please check with your local distributor for

Upside:
Is there any better reason to own this notebook than being Team Ferrari's official laptop? While Ferrari's 2005 batch of F1 racers haven't emulated the success of its devastating F2004 car, this Acer notebook looks to be wildly popular judging from the huge number of hits we've gotten. While its carbon-fiber exterior is breathtakingly scorching, the insides are made of powerful stuff, too. Under the hood is AMD's new Turion 64 chip (which would probably use the top-end 2.0GHz processor), 1GB RAM, a 100GB hard drive and a DVD multiformat burner. With great expansion and networking options such as an ample four USB ports, DVI-D, S/PDIF, a 5-in-1 flash card reader and Bluetooth, you can be sure devices won't have much problem connecting to the Acer. The graphics engine is managed by the highly charged ATI Mobility Radeon X700 with 128MB of dedicated VRAM. The awesome frame and specs are certainly enough to make this unit one hotly anticipated notebook.
Downside:
With all those superb specs, I'm quite sure you must have been wondering what the price is. While the cost in Singapore wasn't confirmed as at press time, you can expect this laptop to cost a hefty S$3,500 at the very least, judging from the prices of previous incarnations of the Ferrari notebooks.
Outlook:
This Ferrari is definitely an object of desire, especially with its sleek chassis and very powerful components. Of course, don't expect the price to be too low considering its elite status. You can be sure we'd want to get our hands on this machine. So do check back in a few months for our full coverage.
