Netbooks: Which is right for me?
 Acer Aspire One AOD150The previous Aspire One was popular not only because of its sleek design, but also because it's one of the cheapest 8.9-inch Netbooks in town. The new version, Aspire One AOD150, bumps up the screen size and sports the latest Atom N280 processor as well. To improve battery life, the unit now comes with a six-cell battery which should provide a decent uptime.However, it's not all a bed of roses for this Netbook. For one, the six-cell battery makes it a little hefty for its size. Another issue we had was with the trackpad which could have been a little more responsive. Nonetheless, the sleek design and affordable price tag will certainly make this model a hit with the Netbook crowd.

Though the form factor of the Kohjinsha puts them in the category of UMPCs, they are, however, not Netbooks. Instead, they are considered convertible tablets which fall outside the focus of this article.

I recently got the Asus Eee PC 900 for just $390 here in Manila. Prices are going down now. The 8.9" screen is great and I really wanted a SSD so my files are safe. The battery life is reasonable. The portability's superb, easily fits my bag and its lightweight though solidly built. I installed Windows XP and its running smoothly. Now I just wish it has bluetooth.

Couldn't resist! Bought the 1000HE during the IT Show last week for less than $690. Battery lasts well over 7 hours after 1st charge. Excellent keyboard too. Can't ask for more at this price!

Also, battery backup is likely to be affected by the increased power consumption. Better to avoid all these hassles and wait for netbooks with Pine Trail package! HD and graphics capability, low power consumption, no-fan design (no more annoying whinings while operating), leaner designs!
