HIGHLIGHTS :

  • See which were the top notebooks to fly off the shelves in August from our monthly top 10 polls.
  • Corporate notebooks are a different breed from consumer models. The former may cost more, but in return one gets better security and more robust design. Check out our top picks here.
  • Frankly, it gets stale whenever someone asking for notebook recommendations demands that it be a cheap and good model. So in the spirit of the weekends, we go to the other extreme and chose the five most extravagant portables we can get our hands on.
  • The Asus R2H, hampered by its slow Celeron processor, has been superceded by the Asus R2Hv with a faster Pentium M chip and Vista operating system. The former now costs S$1,898 (US$1,397.41), while the newer unit goes for S$2,498 (US$1,839.16).
  • Sick and tired of squinting at your ultraportable's screen? For just a few hundred dollars, you can save your eyesight by hooking on to an external LCD. Check out our top picks for flat-panel displays. For shopping tips, you can also hop over to our monitor buying guide.
