Intel-Lamborghini tie-up

From processors to chipsets, Intel continues its vertical integration strategy and has partnered with the automotive manufacturer, Automobili Lamborghini, to design and market Lamborghini-branded notebooks.
According to Intel, the success of the Centrino mobile technology is based on trends like increasing notebook sales and rapid growth of Wi-Fi hotspots. With two thirds of computers sold in Italy coming from the mobile PC sector, it makes business sense working with the premium Italian car maker to develop their own laptops.
This is a smart move as a previous collaboration between Acer and Ferrari resulted in the popular Acer Ferrari series. Known for its fast cars with advanced onboard electronics and chassis, we speculate that the new Lamborghini range will likely following the trend of using carbon fiber bodies (similar to the newly released Sony VAIO TX series) which are stronger than steel yet significantly lighter.
Based on the next generation Centrino platform codenamed "Napa", this line will have dual core processors capable of splitting tasks between two computing chips. Codenamed "Yonah", the new dual core processors will have three distinct technologies to increase performance. The Intel Digital Media Boost improves multimedia applications while the Advanced Thermal Manager better manages heat buildup. Dynamic Power Coordination optimizes operations between the two processing cores for greater real world performance. The Lamborghini laptop will likely leave other notebooks choking in its dust during performance tests. Currently warming up at the starting line, this speed demon is set to pulverize the competition next year.
