G8 Netbk!!!

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Built-in SIM slot; Portability; Battery Life; XP OS!
Cons: Keyboard; Screen?
Opinion:
Netbook is for net surfing right?
Keyboard takes getting used to; but hey, I don't type much with it. Screensize is a trade-off for portability. Setting your screen font size to Extra Large helps.
I think XP OS still has many pluses over Vista. The Zune theme looks great on it. Built-in 3G SIM slot means no USD dongle sticking out. Wifi fast enough; 3G - depends on operator / plan. Entertainment on the go if you have a big SD card. Watch DivX, listen to music, internet radio, DVB-T (buy the adapter)....

Light, lovely and at times laggy

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Size(Duh!), Bluetooth, boot time(<1min)
Cons: 1GB max RAM, 8gbSSD, "Shift" key position
Opinion:
Im using the mini9 to type this review.

As I love gadgets, electronic devices and things that are featured on this site (hint hint*), I was pretty pleased when i recieved this netbook for free when i signed up for my broadband. Hot out the box it looks stunning and iconic, something i don't mind carrying out everyday. Mine is white with a glossy finish. Thoungh the glossy finish opens to problems like fingerprints all over it but atleast u the detectives can figure out who stole your laptop.
the size, to me is an advantage, but people above 40 with declining eyesight, best look for something bigger as the font size is very small, size 12 is almost equivalent to size 2 on Microsoft Word using my 32" full HD displsy on my desktop.
the boot time is pretty good. this does not come originally as i disabled many startup applications, only leaving the free McAfee A/V and ... Read more

Cons: ..........
Opinion:

Preppy, good enough for typical office tasks...

Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Small, light, comes with XP as standard vs option
Cons: Limited RAM and storage, as usual...
Opinion:
Ok, I got to test this product in my recent trip to Malaysia... among other netbooks, this is probably the one that looks decently built.

XP was running fast on this machine. To make Office 07 run, I might have to install a 2GB RAM, which means removing the existing 1GB and replacing it with a 2GB RAM. I also will need an external hard drive, so I can dedicate the internal drive to virtual memory. That means I will end up forking out another 150-200 US Dollars after purchasing this unit at 350 US Dollars, roughly. Haven't even included a decent mouse yet. All told, I will have spent about 500 US Dollars. That is well within full-featured laptop territory.

But it's a cool toy to have, though. The build quality and speed when I tested it for about half an hour was very decent. It looks like it ... Read more

A strong contender in the mini olympics....

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Strong specs and nice design, yeyboard reinvented to suit netbooks
Cons: Cpuld be slightly overpriced
Opinion:
This is definitely going on my watch list as a soon to purchase (when it becomes available in Malaysia).

Having spent hours in research on a variety of netbooks this Dell and the Eeepc 1000H and the MSI Wind are all strong contenders for my dollars.

Generally Dell have a good reputation and as a secondary mobile platform I would not hesitate considering this.

I am a Macbook Pro user, but love the mobility of these devices, and rather than having to load XP or Vista on my MBP I would much rather have this mobility along with some of the nice little windows apps that are not available on OSX. Handy feature!!

If you Skype on MAcs or PC's it makes little difference. I like em both, but prefer OSX over windows for web design and development.

So I can have my OSX as my primary design environment and for checking the necessary tweaks ... Read more
