I should have waited...
Dec 22, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: intel atom,bluetooth,battery life
Cons: small keyboard
Opinion:
I already got the Asus 900... I wish I waited for this one. Tha intel atom processor doesn't run as hot and the baterry life is superb. The bluetooth also comes in handy. Hmmm... upgrade?
Great potential, falling short of a spacious storage drive and small screen.
Dec 8, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: 802.11n wifi, Intel Atom processor
Cons: Small 8.9" display, limited SSD storage
Opinion:
For a company that is one of the pioneers in the netbook series, it is hard to give the Eee PC a deserving score of 8.
To start with, there is only 12GB of drive space, hardly enough in storage capacity. Then there is the small 8.9" screen - it's like looking at a bug through an overpriced mirror.
You are better off with the MSI Wind or Lenovo S10 at alittle over the current asking price of the Eee PC.
Very good upgrade to the original version...
Aug 11, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Surprisingly fast considering its specs...
Cons: Price lands it into low-end full-featured laptops...
Opinion:
I tried this unit on display during a recent trip in the States... and oh boy it's a faster version of the original Eee pc. for a netbook, it opens MS Office applications fast... boot time is decent as well, and keyboard is usable. The downside during my brief use - practically nothing, for a netbook. However, at this price, the question of the moment is - would you settle for this unit versus a full-featured, low-end laptop running on Pentium Pro? As a second laptop, this is great. But as a first laptop for users moving from desktop, not quite.
All what a travel UMPC should be
Jul 15, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: decent chip, basic connectivity
Cons: small disk space
Opinion:
After flaunting the Kohjinsha during my travels, this Eee sounds very attractive, a good screen size, better speed, connectivity options. The only thing i miss in this model is atleast a 40gb storage.
The weight on the other hand is okay, 1 kg is an ideal number.
Am sure attaching a 3.5G card or usb module will make it a darling of the travellers.
bravo!
Good value for money
Jul 8, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: affordable price, small size
Cons: cannot run recovery via SD
Opinion:
I have had the PC for a month and so far have no problem with the PC. Finding my WAP2 enabled Linksys wireless network was a breeze and the connection have never dropped off. The battery last for about 4 hours under normal use which is a much needed improvement over the PC900. The processor seemed adequate for normal use and playing movie and I have not notice any glitch/delays when running simple applications. Of course, its definitely not a PC replacement and you can forget about video/photo editing using this machine but considering its price and size, its definitely a good tool to have while on the road.
The built quality appears to be very good and everything feels solid. The camera, mic and speakers are well placed and provides adequate sound and video quality.
Obviously, the major reason for buying one of these is portability. The fact that the recovery program comes in a DVD format ... Read more
