Wonderful for a first lappy

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: All the specs, accesoriesa and performance.
Cons: Vista, noisy optical drive and slow start-up
Opinion:
Got in June 08 for abt S$2100 after upgrading the processor. Was in a dilemma between a Dell and a Sony lappy. With the Specs I got at that price, its all worth it. A Sony would cost abt S$2900. I am thinking of upgrading the screen to a slimmer one for an extra abt S$200.

This kind of model fits all my entire needs from travel to my home, from office to my school

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: high performance for a subnotebook (nearly a gaming notebook), Penryn processor option, 128mb NVIDIA GeForce GS, 7200rpm harddisk option, slim and lightweight feature, funky/business looking-cover design, MAGNESIUM ALLOY casing (great protection for display, processor, hardisk), touch-capable multimedia keys, smooth FULL-SIZE keyboard, WLED display option, SLOT-LOAD DVD+/-RW optical drive, Biometric Fingerprint option, WiFi, Bluetooth, Consumer IR, 2-megapixel webcam for standard display, HDMI and Firewire ports, 8-in-1 memory card slot, remote control, wedge-type hinge, larger palmrest for tough users
Cons: 2 USB ports, no modem, optical drive is not upgradable, noisy optical drive (though it seems cute robotic sound), average speaker sounds
Opinion:
I just bought this recently (May 2008). But before that, I got confused first which from these two will I buy, this? or the newly released HP DV3000.
Why I chose this? I don't like plastic laptops. I prefer those with Magnesium case and base. I don't like my laptop shine (literally) too much, and I prefer SMOOTH touchpad that doesn't leave dirty fingerprints and marks... and this is thinner and more portable with its weight. I am not after for gaming laptop though, but if I will, I better buy ones with options of NVIDIA GeForce GT or higher! This thing is enough for making video editing, DVD movies, intermediate decent games, documents and presentations, developing programs, internet browsing, and save lots of data from my phone, digicams, and movies.

Quite good.

Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: The Dell XPS M1330 is very light and the keyboard is very sleek.
Cons: Not much problems, besides Vista.
Opinion:
The Dell XPS M1330 is actually quite good after taking a look at it and looks a lot better than it does on the Dell website.

It is very light (A lot lighter than the Macbook) and can be held with one hand easily (Try not to drop it though.). The keyboard is made out of aluminum and is very fine to touch.

It comes with a fingerprint scanner and a Dell remote that you can use.

The two USB ports are very useful and there are options for the screen to be backlit.

Overall, I think the Dell XPS M1330 is the way to go if you are using Windows AND aiming for a low ~$10,000 RMB price. If not, then you should pick the Dell XPS M1530.

Great machine

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Good battery life, portable, light, visually appealing, slim, good screen, finger print reader actually works, gaming experiance is also good.
Cons: Ony 2 usb ports, noisy disk drive, can be heard while it is turned on.
Opinion:
hi all,

i just got this wonderful notebook a week ago and i can say that i am very very pleased with what i have got. this is a fantastic machine. it is slim and so so portable compared to other notebooks with similiar specs. i bought the white one and it is so so beautiful. the finish of the notebook is also very good.

it has a great screen and woderful easy to access buttons. the finger print scanner actually works very very well too compared to other past models that i have tried. the gaming experiance is also very good for a portable notebook.

the only downsides are the 2 usb ports and the noisy dis drive. it is quite loud when loading or ejecting a CD. but if u compare these cons to the good side of what you are getting, it is forgivable.

in all, if you are looking for a ... Read more

Portability and Power with Style

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Stylish design. Lightweight. Great performance.
Cons: 2 USB slots only. Noisy slot loading DVD drive
Opinion:
Contrary to previous Dell laptops which were dull and boxy the XPS M1330 is a real head turner. Make no mistake about it though, this machine is no dumb blond. Underneath its sleek and stylish good looks, this machine packs serious computing power, not commonly found systems in this size and category and a whole lot more.

This baby is a real looker, with its MicroSatin painted lid (available in Alpine White, Tuxedo Black and Crimson Red), brushed aluminum palm rest, and tapered profile.

Sporting an Intel Santa Rosa chip set and a 128MB Nvidea GeForce 8400M GS graphics card, it runs commonly-used applications in a breeze (even on Windows Vista with Aero on). Multi-tasking doesn't take it's toll on its performance. Resource demanding tasks, like multimedia content creation, are a snap. As far as gaming is concerned, it has above-average capabilities compared to its counterpart systems (bearing in mind that this is not a ... Read more
