1 yr Service Experience of Acer TravelMate 3282 notebook
Dec 25, 2007Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Relatively cheap.Quite lightweight
Cons: Runs very hot when used for extended periods (more than 1 hr) at maximum processor speed Touchpad fails to operate properly when laptop is hot
Opinion:
I have used the notebook for over a yesr and it seems like there are some serious drawbacks with this machine.I have beem to the service centre 3 times in a year.Once for the display cable comming loose, another time to fix he Bluetooth switch that was barely if ever used and 2 times to fix the mousepad's buttons.
Once the notebook heats up,the entire handrest area(where all the stickers are) would be very hot.It would not be advisable to use the touchpad as the touchpad regularly fails to detect the movement of the finger and/or is overly sensitive such that the slightest twitch sends the mouse pointer all over the screen. It is thus necessary to use a mouse for extended usage.Since the handrest area is hot , an external keyboard would also be necessary for extended usage. You might also want to consider the purchase of a laptop cooler pad
All in all,the purchase of this laptop ... Read more

Pros: Nothing great about it ....
Cons: Too many to count...
Opinion:
One unstable notebook, buyee it due to Core Duo/ATI 1400, but keyboard hangs, power management software buggy .. hibernates/restarts withour warning, showing low battery when fully charged, the touchpad starts behaving funny at times...Dedicated Shortcut keys also are moody, this is the worst notebook i have used ....
Value For Money
Mar 19, 2006Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Great Performace, Dedicated Graphics, Slick Design, Well Priced
Cons: Mediocre Speakers
Opinion:
Best value for money dual core laptop out there. Great for those who want something cheap but still able to play games. Able to run games like need for speed: most wanted and half life 2. Great design and also easy to carry around. Only complaints are the speakers. Also those who use this laptop for gaming might want to upgrade their memory to 1Gb.
