Decent price/performance value.
Feb 27, 2007Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Powerful, well priced, great speakers, good battery options
Cons: Heavy and bulky side for a thin and light, no built in mic, bluetooth not standard
Opinion:
1.86Ghz, 1Gb, 80gb, DVDRW
Configured with the above specs, the 630m is good balance between price and performance.
Design wise, it looks bulkier than comparative modles, but in actuality, the 630m is about the same size and weight.
Built with multimedia in mind, the speakers are powerfull enough to fill a small room but unfortunately the screen lacks (vertical) viewing angle.
With the 9 cell extended battery, one can run the unit on basic office apps with no wifi and screen to reasonable brightness up to 7 hours. With Wifi on, you can get just under 6 hours.
Don't quite understand why Dell in all its wisdone neglected to include a built in mic and not state it anywhere.
Average for me
May 19, 2006Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Usability and stable system
Cons: heavy and system is slow
Opinion:
Dell Inspiron 630m is sluggish in term of computing performance. It took me ages to boot up eventhough I've clean up my Windows XP. Overall, it covers the basic need of my computing.
Best value for its great performance
May 17, 2006Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Light, Small, long battery life, all included, simple and fully finctional.
Cons: Bad video card, it has 128mb of shared memory but no GPU, and you cant put a better one in.
Opinion:
It's a great notebook for carrying around. It has everything on conectivity and power. although it has a lame intel graphics card it performs really well and i can even run without problems Need For Speed Most Wanted, altough it gets slow sometimes. Battery life is great i have used it for 3 hours and 40 minutos when browsing the web with the wifi on and about 2 hours and 30 minutes when playing NFS MW with the standard battery. I got the 1 gb ram version with 40 gb of hard drive, and i'm kind of getting short with it so i recomend a bigger hard drive. The greatest notebook i've used.
This is the best ever made machine by dell
