The good: Great value; three USB ports; design.

The bad: Cramped keyboard; lack of storage space; no optical drive.

The bottom line: There're no two ways about it--the ASUS Eee PC 701 is a great laptop. It's affordable, sexy and highly portable. If you're looking for a cheap second PC that can fit into a small bag, then there are few better options.

Nice and compact

Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: Light, built in camera and handy
Cons: No DVD/CD Rom, small screen, all other add ons are external.
Opinion:
It is nice and handy, but all the other add ons are external. Short battery life, and small screen. Adaptor becomes too hot, while recharging.

I call EeePC "My PDA"

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: size. it does matter. i carry on the go everywhere.
Cons: nothing that can't be overcome.
Opinion:
great machine. it is the ultimate in portable computing. yes, it has a small keyboard, but after a week, it's just fine. Added a 16GB SDHC card and installed most software on it. 8 and 16GB flash drives are dirty cheap, so storage shouldn't be an issue if you know what you are doing. 4GB SSD used for OS. yes, the CPU is clocked at 600MHz, but you can bump it to 900MHz if you really wanted to. 2GB RAM is very helpful on the performance. I use if for gaming, productivity, and entertainment. you just have to know what you have and what you can do with it. I can't leave home without my "PDA"

Nifty little machine;highly mobile, utilitarian, excellent for emails on the go,one-to-one machine.

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: comes preloaded with all essential office productivity software-ie word processing & spreadsheet etc.
Cons: no windows os;most devices or softwares built round the windows os may not work.
Opinion:
Would prefer a Windows os with slightly bigger screen but not quite as large as conventional notebooks.A bigger solid state disc in the region of 20-30 gig.The built-in wifi sure functions speedily-it starts up first thing when internet traffic is @ its least esp. early mornings.Usually mid-Thursday afternoons internet traffic is quite heavy, thus experiencing hangups.A matter of trial & error experiencing the optimal times for one's own internet activity!I tried to install Windows (SP2)several times and have since given up-maybe my version of Windows sp2 was issued in 2001!The Linux OS is not able to recognise external CD rewriter or other makes of ext. usb hdd like the LG Slim & LaCie 160g. hdd.I have owned this machine since 2/12/2007.For the price,I cannot complain too much!
