User Review for Apple MacBook Air (Core 2 Duo processor 1.86GHz, 2GB, 13.3-inch TFT)
A stunning little performer
Mar 8, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Form factor, keyboard and usability, screen, power and speed.
Cons: Price
Opinion:
I am a Mac Book Pro user and was looking for a small lightweight machine. Having heard so much bad press about the 1st gen Air, this machine was not exactly first choice. However with a soft spot for all things APPLE, I took the trip to the Apple centre here in Singapore. It was about 30 minutes playing with the machine that convinced me this was the one. Weight is superb, the 1.86ghz core duo processor with 2GB of ram and the 128GB SSD makes for an awesome little performer. I have been using the machine for about a week now and I am impressed. The ergonomics and usability are great, battery life I find with general work and surfing is about 4 hours, less if the super drive is plugged. The presence of only 1 USB port is no big deal. I am not using this machine as a desktop therefore connecting a bunch of peripherals in is not a priority. My printer etc at home is all wireless, and I did pick up the USB 2.0 ethernet adaptor should I find myself somewhere needing to be wired to the wall.
The inability to carry spare batteries is a bit of a downer and the only reason I would not give this machine a 10.
