User Review for Asus Eee PC 1000H (Intel Atom N270 Processor 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM)
Open mind for Netbook, judge your needs
Feb 7, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Good Battery power ( 4.5 hours ) continoue use on my applications, 10 inch display, good size keyboard
Cons: A bit thick and heavy for 10 inch Netbook compare with Lenovo S10
Opinion:
All buyer should set the right expectation for this netbook - If you are dealing with basic tasks; web browsing, email, internet radio, Skpye, playback MP3 music ... etc - It handles well. ( I am sure many of us aware) and I only standby between use, shut down by end of the day of my use.
I leave my more powerful notebook (bigger and heavlier) at office. Since I store all my data in a USB 8 GM Memory Sticks + USB Modem for Mobile BB. With Asus 1000H, it fits well my mobile use. In fact, I just bought 2nd one - Black Color at S$689 in Futan PC Mall (my wife really like the 1st one in white color)
I install MS Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint. It works well and does not slow down even it is the basic 1G model. if you are set to use as light use, there is no urgent need to upgrade the RAM, (if it is free that is good deal) afterall CPU Atom and onboard display chip will be the main bottle necks.
Comparative, Black Color is more prmopt to see finger prints on High Gross Surface than White Color, that you have to take note.
2 useful tips, - Use Compact Display mode and Super performance mode, this Asus's easy switching function via toggle key and mouse
2 cool-look accessories; I added a LCD Protection Screen and a Rubber Cover for keyboard.
I like it's solid build, further reducing on thinckness and weight are welcome, but PLEASE NEVER CUT the battery power (welcome to add more) that is key for mosst mobile user ... like me. Do not try to increase the price, when going price close to S$900, it has more Core 2 CPU notebook in choice for much better performance.
Why Brand Asus? No specific reasons, it happens it laucnhes 1st in market with few 8.9 models, I wait until it has a 10 inch model which is the min sreen size for me.
