The good: Good sound quality; decent video playback; dedicated volume controls; sliding lock switch; good screen performance; built-in speakers; decent array of features such as FM tuner and voice recording; works with iTunes. View score
The bad: Plastic body is scratch-prone; not many distinguishing features to differentiate it from the E-440 series.
The bottom line: On paper, the S-540 series looks almost similar to the E-440 series, albeit with a larger screen and a pair of speakers built into the back. We were impressed by how much volume the two tiny speakers could throw out, and thatÂ’s what makes the S-540 unique in its own way.
