The good: Good sound quality; decent video playback; dedicated volume controls; sliding lock switch; good screen performance; decent array of features such as FM tuner and voice recording; works with iTunes.

The bad: Plastic body is very prone to scratches; shorter battery life than the E-430.

The bottom line: While it is not a drastic improvement over the older E-430, the E-440 offers more audio enhancements such as Dynamic Normalizer and Clear Audio Technology (consisting of Clear Stereo and Clear Bass). Overall, it's a solid player that pushes all the right buttons, but there's no outstanding feature.
