The good: Smooth video playback on a bright, reasonably sharp screen; good viewing angle; A/V recordings are very high quality; touch screen is responsive to fingers or a stylus; WiFi features add lots of versatility; removable battery is a nice touch as are the included AC adapter and wireless remote.

The bad: Audible system noise during testing; built-in video codec support isn't as broad as it should be (additional codecs cost extra); have to pay extra to get the hardware required to use the recording features; Opera browser isn't supported by some Web sites; this version doesn't support Flash or Java; the browsing experience could be smoother and quicker.

The bottom line: The Archos 704 WiFi multimedia player looks amazing on paper, but the Web browsing isn't quite smooth enough. Still, as a video player it succeeds: the large screen size makes it ideal for planes, trains, and automobiles, though it's too big to be an everyday music player.

Pros: - Mentioned before -
Cons: Battery door does not lock well
Opinion:
I just found the battery doorlock's "spring catch pin" was broken!, that explains why the battery door does not lock tight. Bad Mech design. Minus 1 point from my previous comments.

Pros: 800x480 res in 155x96mm, Wi-fi, TouchScreen.
Cons: Slow in performance with heavy loaded new stuffs .
Opinion:
I had an AV700 for one year plus. If you are Video Centric user, you will enjoy in both better res and better size on 704.

Though I do not buy movie/music on line, the MTP - USB Connection give future proof for DRM media as good provision ( if you do not understand what I am saying, forget it, it is too complicated, created by Microsoft).

Now come to Wi-fi, OPERA still young, browsing Internet you need a lot of patient. Stream from PC, concept is ok, but in most real life, you tends to drag&drop the video and "GO" or "For Show" as a mobile unit.

TouchSrceen, one of the most welcome features for most user BUT no where to store the touchpen, eye for details can make this point perfect.
