Bad Software
Aug 1, 2007Rating: 1 out of 10 (Abysmal)
Pros: small
Cons: Software
Opinion:
I have the NW-608 and I have been using the supplied Connect player. I received a notice to inform me that I need to use Sonicstage CP instead so I downloaded it and the installation failed with the following message
'Installation process for Sonic Stage 4.3 has been terminated(2051,20697)'
I then tried to use Connect and it failed with the message:
'The OpenMG component used by CONNECT player failed to start '
So the installation has broken the original software.
I researched Sony Software problems on the web and was alarmed at the number of people who now cannot use their Sony Walkman's because of software problems. Sony do not provide older versions of their software, so you cannot go back. Most worrying is that Sony do not seem to care. I assume they want you to ditch the product and buy a new one. .
Software Let down
Sep 19, 2006Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Works like a charm, looks, sound quality, Battery life, size
Cons: the software is slow and not in the slightest bit user friendly, software, not mac compatible
Opinion:
When i bought my sony i was so proud an even told my friends to trade in their ipods because this couldn't be beaten. How wrong i was.
I am a sony fan and have always been and for this reason i decided to buy the sony over the ipod. A great decision however one i would regret every time i tried to load a song form my already existing library.
The software is so so so slow that i just can't believe they ever thought that they could release it. And not even Sonic Soundstage is better. I emailed sony and let them know how i felt and the next day was met with an email refering me to a third "non Sony" software pacage which is great except for the fact that it can't conyert to Atrac3 ( main reason i bought the sony) it was www.drvoid.com...
Now i hardly wan't to listen ... Read more
NW-E507's big brother
Nov 12, 2005Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros:
Cons:
Opinion:
I have the NW-E507 and it's absolutely awesome. The only time I can fault the player is its slow transfer speeds. If Sony fix this with this new player, it will be awesome :D
