The good: Huge screen; supports PlaysForSure audio and video; wide viewing angle; records audio and video from external sources; can record TV at scheduled times; excellent battery life, especially for audio only; includes kickstand; iTunes plug-in for Mac users; nice printed manual.

The bad: Expensive; screen looks grainy and washed out; widescreen content hard to come by; no software CD included; video-conversion tools not optimized for the AV700.

The bottom line: Proof positive that bigger isn't always better, the Archos AV700 fails to make the most of its widescreen LCD.

Can it play music & photo at same time?

Almost bought it few days ago, but the salesmen couldn't show me slideshows (photos) with music together. Anyone knows if this AV700 can do that or not? Also found out AV500 just came it. Looks more portable than this giant AV700.

I currently own the AV400. Will upgrade to the AV700 100GB in no time! Improvements over the old - stereo speakers, integrated kickstand and can play WMV now.
Can record cable TV to watch by the pool. Or convert and archive protected DVD movies (in real time though - but still much faster than digital conversion on a pc) to Divx to watch at whim! And don't forget abt photos and music! Can work as a virtual photo frame!

Finally, a PVP with a really decent screen size. Only downside is the obviously short battery life and price.
