Sony Ericsson announces W995, Media Go and Idou

This year, the Japanese-Swedish outfit has a slightly more muted presence at the annual tradeshow in Barcelona with a stronger focus on services and entertainment.
Also announced with the W995 is the Media Go application which will debut on the Walkman when it ships to selected markets next quarter. This lets users automatically transfer multimedia files between a computer and Sony Ericsson handset. For starters, users can transfer music, videos, photos and podcasts via a USB cable between the devices. We're not sure whether Media Go will replace the PC Suite software that's shipping with Sony Ericsson mobiles now, but we are sure that will be made known in due time. Still on devices, the company also unveiled a concept 12-megapixel camera-phone. Dubbed Idou, the high-end touchscreen handset will encapsulate Sony Ericsson's "Entertainment Unlimited" vision which the outfit claims to have been working toward since the joint venture in 2001. This will seamlessly integrate the Walkman, Cyber-shot and gaming experiences, while extending it to other devices in the home environment. The Idou, which is still a concept name, will come with touch features, Xenon flash, a 16:9 display, and run on the Symbian Foundation software. The concept offering is expected to roll out in the latter half of the year.
