At the Go Play event held in Singapore today, Nokia showcased four new multimedia-centric handsets, among them a new Nseries mobile, an update to the popular N95 as well as two new additions to the XpressMusic lineup. The new devices are announced in conjunction with the launch of Ovi, Nokia's new Internet gateway to services such as the Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games and Nokia Maps.

Not surprisingly, mobile entertainment is clearly the main theme at Nokia's latest product launch. The N81 smart phone, for instance, offers landscape gaming with dedicated game keys, 3.5mm headphone plug (via the Nokia AV connector), on top of its 2-megapixel camera, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. It comes in two versions: One with a microSD card expansion slot, the other with built-in 8GB flash memory.

Also introduced at the launch was the N95 8GB, an updated black version of the N95 with all the bells and whistles of the original handset plus a larger 2.8-inch QVGA display and expanded 8GB flash memory. The current N95 comes equipped with a 2.6-inch QVGA screen and 160MB of built-in storage.

Two XpressMusic handsets also made their debut at the Go Play event. The higher-end model of the two, the 5610 XpressMusic, is a 3G slider phone with a 2.2-inch 24-bit color display and 3.2-megapixel camera.

The one that caught our eye, however, was the 5310 XpressMusic, a slim 9.9mm candy bar that offers just about all the ideal features desired in a music-phone. In addition to FM radio and a microSD expansion card slot, the 5310 also comes with a 2-inch 24-bit color screen, Bluetooth stereo, dedicated music playback buttons and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

All the new mobiles are expected to ship to selected markets in the fourth quarter of this year.
