Launched some time during late May early June, NTT Docomo's new FOMA P904i and SH904i handsets come with built-in accelerometers that detect motion while playing games. Called the
Chokkan Game, the gestural interface such as tracing a finger, tilting or waving the handset and even moving the body during gameplay resemble those of Nintendo
Wii Sports. The biggest difference is these games are played on mobile phones.
Depending on the type of game, the user will be required to do different motions. For example, in
Chokkan Boxing, the player will need to move the body left or right to dodge punches from opponents and throw a punch like he would in real life. This is done via the phone's front-facing camera which uses the GestureTek EyeMobile as the interface. In short, the camera will recognize the player's movements during the game to create a more realistic experience.
The SH904i also features a "2in1" support for two separate phone numbers and email addresses on a single device. According to NTT DoCoMo, this is a combination of both hardware and network solutions which would enable users to switch to a different line sans an additional unit.
