Once available, users will be able to download the upgrade from Dopod Asia's Website.

The 838Pro is the oldest model of the four selected handhelds, while the U1000 is the latest. These two PDA-phones both have QWERTY keyboards and feature wireless connectivity options like HSDPA and Wi-Fi. Additionally, the U1000 has GPS built-in.

The P800W and D810 devices are also GPS-enabled, but are more compact models that do not have numerical or QWERTY keys.

HTC Europe has already revealed which of its devices will receive the WM6 upgrade, and that list did not include the HTC P3600 (Dopod D810). However, the S620 (Dopod C720W) and P4350 (Dopod C800) phones are part of its upgrade plans.

This announcement is applicable to users in Southeast Asia. Dopod was not able to confirm the availability of this upgrade for other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. At press time, other manufacturers of Windows Mobile devices were not able to comment on their upgrade plans. Samsung did not reveal any plans yet to upgrade its Ultra Messaging i600 to Windows Mobile 6.
