Sony w995 Walkman phone
Oct 3, 2009Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: Good call quality, decent media player
Cons: Pricey, Crappy media software, bad tech support
Opinion:
Bought phone in HK while vacation. Phone was recently released when I bought it!
Good call quality, decent media player (walkman), decent camera ONLY for day/closeup shots. External speaker is decent for music playback but sound is distorted once volume is increased. Sony FINALLY included a 3.5mm port for earphones instead of FORCING users to use their Fastport adapter which is ONE of the biggest problems of using Sony walkman phones!
Very pricey, camera should NOT be used at night/long-distance shots! Video playback isn't bad but you must format it using 3rd party software to mpeg4 format or else it will NOT play! You do NOT want to use video player anyway since screen is so damn small for videos/movies!
Sony includes CRAPPY media software (Media Go) to transfer media files to and from phone, playlist creation is a Damn nightmare using Media Go and when using phone to create playlists! Similar to Sony's mp3 players, the ... Read more
The best SE phone
Sep 10, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Finally stereo speakers and 2.6'' screen on a SE! Image quality better than C905,8mp camera,GPS,Wifi
Cons: Outdated screen resolution,no eye candy weather app, battery is worst than C905
Opinion:
Ok I had before the W995 a C905 and a Nokia 5800.
This phone is better than C905:
-Slimmer
-Lighter
-Bigger screen
-Torch light
-Dual and louder Speakers!
The C905 is better for:
-Battery life ( about half a day more)
-Under direct sunlight, the W995 is very good but the C905 is better.
Compared to the 5800:
I missed the high resolution screen! The W995 has a nice screen but it's obsolete in terms of resolution with 240x320 for a 2.6''!!
But it's far better under direct sunlight!
The SE software is exellent but it's kind of boring after using SE phones with praticlly the same UI for years, they could have enable widgets and added a weather app like the HTC one to enjoy the 2.6''...
Nice combo of Walkman and Cybershot
Jul 13, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Walkman, 8 mpx camera, 3.5mm jack, solid build, easy media transfer
Cons: small screen
Opinion:
This phone is a must-buy for those who treasure their music, photos and phone functions. The phone's buttons are fairly easy to use and pretty intuitive. Music output is as expected of a Walkman branded phone. The camera could use some work especially in the video recording department.
Awesome Walkman phone
Jul 3, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: 8.1 MP camera , WiFi , Sound quality and etc
Cons: QVGA video recording
Opinion:
This phone is actually pretty perfect if you are looking for a really feature-packed phone which isn't a smartphone , only a pity that it doesn't record video in VGA , since it has a really good camera built-in the phone.
Nokia N86 8MP or this?
May 26, 2009Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: WiFi, camera, design
Cons: Not that I know of
Opinion:
Is this phone better than the Nokia N86 8MP? I know the screen for the Nokia N86 is better. But is there any other pros and cons to the W995?
